t
is a delicate operation, to be executed with particular care,
bearing in mind that the iron, even if it's vapour, should never
have direct contact with the cloth .
A clean damp cloth should always be placed between the iron and
the material; when ironing, it is necessary to iron patiently
until the cloth and the material are dry. In case certain creases
don't come out the first time, iron again. For every cloth type
exists certain temperatures and techniques.
How to regulate yourself:
Fur coats: Iron with a hot iron, a
very damp cloth, a light hand and little pressure, finally brush
it.
Satin cloth for coats and heavy suits:
The iron must be hot, very damp cloth, and a lot of extended pressure.
Satin cloth for suits: put the iron
to medium temperature, keep the cloth very humid, act with energetic
and extended pressure especially on the trousers.
Light cloth in wool: Iron at medium
temperature, cloth moderately wet, ironing extended with little
pressure.
Summer clothes: Warm iron, not too
humid cloth, strong pressure, extended ironing.
It's also good:
Not to wear the suit as soon as it's ironed, better
to let it rest at least one day.
Never use the iron to dry the cloth wet by rain
or sprinkled water.
Put some material between the cloth under the turn-ups
or the flaps during the ironing: it will help to prevent that
iron strokes leaves marks of the ironing on the front of the jackets.
